Grace has been emergency management coordinator for the last six years. She approaches every task with great enthusiasm to raise the bar, according to her supervisor, Sam Hodge. One of her most recent accomplishments was completion of a required update to the county’s hazard mitigation plan. This is an expansive document, and updates are a major undertaking. In the past, Georgetown County, like most jurisdictions, contracted someone to complete the update. Grace volunteered to take on the project, saving the county approximately $20,000.
Grace recently was in charge of coordinating completion of paperwork required by FEMA, following Winter Storm Pax. She spent many evening and weekend hours correcting and reviewing a huge amount of paperwork to ensure county agencies received the maximum reimbursement from FEMA for extensive storm recovery efforts. She also was instrumental in the planning of a full-scale hurricane preparedness exercise the county was host to this summer.
