Former Andrews employee arrested for embezzlement

Georgetown County Sheriff's investigators have arrested a 46-year-old woman for embezzling public funds.

In January the Town of Andrews contacted the sheriff's office to investigate the possible embezzlement of fund.

The investigation revealed that 46-year-old Robin Ann Cooper took at least $10,000 in public funds, according to a sheriff's office press release.

Cooper was a 19-year employee of Andrews Water and Sewer.

Andrews Town Administrator Chelice Waites said because the matter is currently under investigation the only thing she could say is that Cooper is no longer employed with the town.

She said Cooper was terminated before she was arrested on Feb. 11.

Cooper has been released from jail on a $25,000 bond.
