Georgetown father charged with neglect after toddlers found 2 miles from home

A Georgetown father has been charged with neglect in connection with his two toddlers, who were missing for about two hours last weekend.

Shannon Tisdale of 596 Gene Drive was charged today with unlawful neglect of a child and turned himself into police after warrants were issued Tuesday, according to Deputy Russell Goodale. Members of the state’s Department of Social Services also are investigating the incident.

The boys, ages 2 and 3, were reported missing from their home at 12:49 p.m. Dec. 31, Goodale said. When police arrived they learned the boys were last seen about 45 minutes before officers were called.

Deputies were told that a three-year-old boy and a two-year-old boy had wandered from the residence.

Officers from several departments searched for more than two hours before the children were found two miles from their home, Goodale said. The boys were not hurt.
