The Center for Heirs' Property Preservation, which provides free legal and educational assistance to low-income heirs' property owners, is offering a free seminar and wills clinic Wednesday at the Plantersville Community Center, 1458 Exodus Drive, Georgetown.
You can make an appointment to visit between 1 and 5 p.m. that day to draft your will and attend the educational session from 6 to 7 p.m. on heirs' property ownership.
To make an appointment or get more information, call Adrienne Rowlin toll free at 866-657-2676.
Heirs' property is land that has been passed down through the generations without the benefit of an estate plan to specify who has inherited the property, so all the heirs share in the ownership, according to a statement from the center.

With the increase in coastal development, this kind of ownership puts the land at high risk of being partitioned and lost forever, the center said.
The seminar will talk about ownership rights and options, and how to protect your children and future generations from the same confusion and stress.
