Pre-trial motions begin in Andrews murder case

A jury has been selected in the murder trial of Dominic Leggette.

Deputy Solicitor Scott Hixson and Leggette's public defender are currently arguing pre-trial motions before Circuit Judge Ben Culbertson.

The jury is expected to return at 9:15 a.m. Tuesday.

Leggette is accused of shooting and killing Antonio Tisdale, 22 10:40 p.m. Aug. 13 2008 near the corner of Farr and Main streets in Andrews and pronounced dead about an hour later at Georgetown Memorial Hospital, said Georgetown County Coroner Kenny Johnson. An autopsy performed Aug. 14 at Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston showed Tisdale died of a gunshot wound to the chest.

Another young man was also injured in the shooting but recovered from his injuries. Leggette has also been charged with assault and battery with intent to kill.

It is believed that the shooting was part of an ongoing dispute, and that Leggette is affiliated with a gang in Andrews, according to Andrews police investigator Eddie Lee.
