Two new restaurants will be the beginning of planned development on 30 acres along U.S. 501 in the Carolina Forest area.

Freddy’s Frozen Custard and Steakburgers and a Popeyes will be located at the site, which is located near Wild Wing Boulevard. The site is currently being cleared of lumber and once permits are acquired, construction will begin in a couple of months, according to Rob Tanner, CEO of Impeccable Development.

This will be the first Freddy’s location in the Myrtle Beach area, Tanner said. Tanner did not have a timeline of when the restaurants would be open but said it would be some time next year.

In addition to the restaurants, the development company also plans to build a $500,000 retail shopping center and a 1,600-unit apartment complex on the property.

“What sold us on the market is Conway and (U.S.) 501,” Tanner said. “When my partners drove it, we saw the traffic, the growth and we became very excited for the overall market.”

There will be national retailers located in the shopping center, but Tanner declined to name any potential tenants.

Tanner said the property has been annexed into the city of Conway and they are hoping to acquire a total of 101 acres for development.

Tanner and his three partners also own the Popeyes restaurants on Church Street in Conway, South Kings Highway in Myrtle Beach and in Jacksonville, North Carolina. They also are building a new Popeyes along U.S. 501 near the intersection of Seaboard Street in Myrtle Beach.
