Update: 15-year-old killed in July 4 accident in Horry County. Four others were injured
A 15-year-old died July 4 when the vehicle they were riding in crashed near North Myrtle Beach.
At about 10:18 July 4, a vehicle with five people left the roadway, hit a ditch, then a brick wall and overturned, according to Lance Cpl. Lena Butler with the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
The teenager was identified by the Horry County Coroner’s Office on Wednesday afternoon as Ry Siah Stanley.
Stanley, who was ejected from the vehicle after it hit the brick wall, was transported to Seacoast ER where he died of multiple traumatic injuries around 11:16 p.m.
The accident happened on Dewitt Road near Chesterfield Road.
The driver of the 2016 Nissan Altima was not injured, a police report said. Three other people were transported to Grand Strand Regional Hospital.
The police report said that the vehicle was traveling too fast for conditions.
South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the wreck.
