An original Market Common restaurant in Myrtle Beach closes its doors

Ultimate California Pizza in Market Common closed early this week, ending an approximately 15-year stretch in the neighborhood.

On Wednesday afternoon, a pizza oven sat in the middle of the dining room, where chairs and tables were corralled in the corner. A sign on the door read, “We very much enjoyed serving you all!”

When asked about the reason for the closure, Kirsten Camp, marketing coordinator for The Market Common, said, “it was a planned departure at the end of their lease.”

This location opened in 2008, alongside the first businesses in the newly-constructed district.

The sign recommended visiting other Ultimate California Pizza locations in Surfside Beach, Myrtle Beach and Barefoot Landing.

Ultimate California Pizza is a local chain operated by Divine Dining Group, which runs a number of area restaurants, including Nacho Hippo, River City Cafe and Bubba’s Fish Shack.

At the time of publication, Divine Dining Group had not responded to requests for comments.
