‘Iconic’ Springmaid Pier reopening after it was destroyed by hurricane nearly 4 years ago

The iconic Springmaid Pier is set to reopen June 1 after facing severe damage from Hurricane Matthew in 2016, a pier spokesperson said Thursday.

Construction on the pier began May 2019 and is ongoing. The pier is just off the southern-most point of Myrtle Beach’s Ocean Boulevard.

“I am happy to say the iconic pier is set to reopen June 1,” said Maria Hayworth, spokesperson for DoubleTree Resort by Hilton, which oversees the pier.

Last year, the resort said the 1,000-foot pier will feature a restaurant, gift shop and tackle shop.
