Myrtle Beach’s Wild Water & Wheels selling season passes for its 30th year of operation
Myrtle Beach’s Wild Water & Wheels waterpark is finally selling season passes ahead of its 30th year of operation.
In November, the park announced it wouldn’t be selling season passes ahead of Black Friday. Typically, a special price had been offered for the post-Thanksgiving shopping day.
Owner Mark Lazarus told The Sun News routine bad weather events since 2017 caused the park to lose operating days during the tourist season, which caused some budgetary concerns heading into the 2020 season.
A rainy July 5, hurricane evacuations over labor day and a colder-than-average Memorial Day Weekend all contributed to the park closing during some of the busiest days of the year. Lazarus didn’t want to begin selling passes until he was sure the finances were all in order.
“We’ve been able to work everything with our financial people, and we’re looking forward to getting back open,” Lazarus said. “Hopefully we will have a good year without any storms or hurricanes.”
The park underwent some repairs and updates to make sure it’s in “excellent condition,” Lazarus said. All of the slides and attractions will be open by the 2020 season. The decision to delay selling seasons passes had nothing to do with a lawsuit filed against the park in July, he added.
With the passes back up for sale, Lazarus said he is offering them at the Black Friday price of $44.95 through Christmas. After that, they will go up to $69.95.
“Right now is the best time to buy them,” he said.
