Loris man killed in crash on Highway 9

A Loris man is dead following a car wreck on Highway 9 Thursday afternoon in Longs.

Horry County deputy coroner Tony Hendricks identified the man as 88-year-old Donald A. Duckles. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to the S.C. Highway Patrol, the accident occurred at 2:15 when the pickup truck Duckles was operating entered Highway 9 from the RV Outlet USA of North Myrtle Beach lot. His truck — hauling a camper at the time — would collide with a tractor trailer headed south on the highway, causing the fatal accident.

According to the S.C. Highway Patrol, the operator of the tractor trailer walked away uninjured.

No charges will be filed in the crash.
