A man who was wanted in a shooting incident in Georgetown surrendered to police Tuesday, according to information on the Georgetown Police Department Facebook page.
Shawan Mercer, 29 of McClellanville, is charged with two counts of second-offense driving under suspension, two counts of unlawful carrying of a weapon, and one count each of failure to stop for a blue light, weapons sale, and discharging a weapon. He was being held Tuesday at Georgetown County Detention Center.
Police said Mercer was wanted in connection with a shooting that occurred last week on South Fraser Street in Georgetown. Police said he fired several shots in a club, but did not strike anyone. He then led officers on a high speed chase the ended in Charleston County, police said.
