A shooting Tuesday night in Loris has left one man dead, Horry County police said.
Officers responded to a call around 5 p.m. to a block of Bennett Loop, in Loris, and when they arrived they found a 21-year-old man who died from a gunshot wound, said Horry County Police spokesman Lt. Robert Kegler.
As of 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, the victim was not identified. Coroner Tony Hendrick said there will be an autopsy Friday.
Police are canvassing the area for potential witnesses and are treating the incident as a homicide, Kegler said. He also said it appears the area where the victim was found is not where the shooting occured. Police are also searching for anyone who knows more about this incident.
