Voters will go to the polls Tuesday to vote in midterm elections, including for county and state seats.
In the governor’s race, incumbent Republican Gov. Nikki Haley is seeking a second term against Democratic candidate, state Sen. Vincent Sheheen, in a rematch election. Two other candidates, Steve French and Morgan Reeves also seeking the governor seat.
Area voters also will choose between U.S. Rep. Tom Rice and challenger Gloria Bromell-Tinubu in the election for U.S. House District 7 seat. The race is another rematch.
In the U.S. Senate voters also will decide whether Tim Scott and Lindsey Graham return to their seats. Graham is challenged by three and Scott by two.
In Horry County voters also will vote in races for one Horry County school board seat, and for representatives in Horry County Council districts one, seven and eight.
Voters in Georgetown County will decide on a proposed sales tax that voters rejected two years ago.
Polls will be open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Voters are required to have any one of five forms of photo identification: voter registration card with photo, driver’s license, photo ID issued by the state Department of Motor Vehicles, military ID or passport.
