Authorities on Saturday identified an 84-year-old Loris woman as the victim in a fatal wreck that happened a day earlier.
Mary Allen died at the scene of the crash, said Horry County Deputy Coroner Tamara Willard. The cause of death was blunt force trauma.
The three-vehicle wreck happened around 4:10 p.m. Friday in the 2400 block of U.S. 701, according to the state Highway Patrol.
A 1995 Chevy pickup was traveling north on U.S. 701 when the driver stopped to make a left turn onto Cheryl Road, according to the patrol. A 1996 Ford Ranger that had been traveling behind the Chevy couldn’t stop in time and swerved around the Chevy and into oncoming traffic, striking a 2003 Ford Escape head on.
