Channing Tatum is heading to Myrtle Beach.
A representative from Savannah, Ga.-based film company Red Zone Productions told Myrtle Beach City Council members Tuesday that Tatum would be among the actors in town Nov. 4 and 5 to film scenes for “Magic Mike XXL,” a sequel to the 2012 film about male strippers.
The original film starred Tatum, Matthew McConaughey, Alex Pettyfer and Joe Manganiello, though McConaughey will not be in the sequel.
“As long as you have [Tatum], you don’t need anybody else,” Councilwoman Susan Grissom Means said. “He is a cutie.”

Filming is expected to take place from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Nov. 4 and 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Nov. 5, according to documents filed with the city. Crews plan to film scenes along Ocean Boulevard, the boardwalk around the Myrtle Beach SkyWheel and at Plyler Park.
Filming also is expected to occur at Boardwalk Motel and Breakers Resort, according to a special events permit request filed with the city of Myrtle Beach. The hotels will be dressed up as a Hyatt Hotel, according to the paperwork.
“Magic Mike XXL” is about a road trip from Tampa to Myrtle Beach for a stripper convention written by and starring Tatum, who also wrote and starred in the first “Magic Mike” movie. The sequel mostly is being filmed on private property in Savannah.
Crews also were in Myrtle Beach during the Labor Day weekend to film some aerial footage as well as shots at 2nd Avenue Pier and Pier 14 while the beach was busy.
Jody Schiesser with Red Zone, who attended Tuesday’s City Council workshop, said the crew will film along Ocean Boulevard for a driving scene as well as a scene in Plyler Park and around the Myrtle Beach Boardwalk and Promenade.
“There will be no street closings,” assistant city manager John Pedersen said. “Police will provide some intermittent traffic control – where they’ll stop the traffic – for about seven minutes.”
A location list said crews would be filming around Plyler Park and the boardwalk with crowded streets and active shops and a Facebook page said they would be looking for local extras.

“Magic Mike XXL” is expected to hit theaters in July.
