North Myrtle Beach officer struck by car while working scene of another crash

An early morning Saturday wreck sent one North Myrtle Beach police officer to the hospital for a knee injury.

The wreck occurred at about 1:30 a.m. Saturday at the intersection of U.S. 17 and Main Street, according to Pat Dowling, spokesman for the city of North Myrtle Beach.

Officers David Reist and Bobby Hall were working a minor wreck at that location when a female motorist crashed her car into one of the police units, causing the police unit to strike another car, and pushing that car into Hall, Dowling said.

Hall was taken to Grand Strand Medical Center and released, according to Dowling. He has possible ligament damage to his knee, Dowling said.

The woman’s name was not released as of Saturday afternoon.
