Horry County Museum to close Wednesday for final aquarium installation

The Horry County Museum will close Wednesday for the final installation of the fresh water aquarium located near the spiral staircase.

The musuem moved to its Conway location at 805 Main Street in October.

For more than three decades, the museum was confined by a 1,800 square-foot-display area in the old post office in the heart of downtown Conway. Late last year, it moved to the historically restored, 10,000-square-foot Burroughs school. Board members pondered waiting for the aquarium to be finished before re-opning its doors, but decided against that idea in the winter.

The museum will re-open on Thursday, May 1. For more information, call the Horry County Museum at 915-5320.
