High school performance groups that would like to use Plyler Park in downtown Myrtle Beach for a short time to showcase their talent in Plyler Park could soon only have to pay less than half of the current cost.
To rent the park for any portion of a day, groups must pay a $125 fee regardless of how long they use the space. City Council will consider a motion Tuesday that would lower that fee to $50 for those using the park for two hours or less.
“There are a number of groups that use Plyler Park on a short-term basis and the current rate doesn’t allow for anything less that the full [fee],” Kruea said. “The $50 recognizes a shorter-term use for the park. It makes it more affordable.”
