Georgetown County police seek information on house fire that killed one man

Law enforcement officials are seeking information on a fire that occurred at 9 a.m. Saturday that killed one man.

Georgetown County coroner Kenny Johnson said John Long, 72, of Murrells Inlet died last night from multisystem failure due to injuries sustained in the fire.

The Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office, the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division, and the Murrells Inlet-Garden City Fire Investigator have been working on the case.

When sheriff’s deputies arrived at at 4322 Lotus Court, four victims were transported to the Waccamaw Community Hospital.

The case remains under investigation.

Police encourage anyone with information to either send an anonymous tip via text by dialing 274637 from any text enabled cell phone, and text the word “GCSOTIP” followed by your message.
