A Longs woman died in a single-vehicle car crash on S.C. Highway 31 on Sunday morning, police said.
Erin Matthews, 20, died in the crash and was pronounced on the scene at about 5:50 a.m., said Horry County coroner Tamara A. Willard.
According to S.C. Highway Patrol Cpl. Bob Beres, Matthews was driving a Chevrolet Tahoe heading north on Highway 31 near Robert Edge Parkway when she ran off the right side of the road and sideswiped a guard rail. Beres said Matthews overcorrected her driving and crossed into the left lane of the roadway, hitting a concrete barrier and she was ejected from the SUV when the Tahoe overturned. She was not wearing a seatbelt.
No one was in the SUV with her and no other vehicles were involved. S.C. Highway patrol is investigating the crash.
