Filing begins at noon today for Loris residents interested in holding a seat on the City Council, while candidates in Aynor and Conway are gearing up their campaigns for November elections.The election for three City Council seats in Loris is set for Dec. 1, and filing will close at noon Oct. 2, said Martha Dorman, city clerk. The filing fee is $50.Three people filed for two Town Council seats in Aynor during their filing period earlier this month. Aynor Mayor Rob Taylor filed to keep his position and was the only candidate to apply for the mayoral seat, said Margaret Duvall, town clerk.Councilman John Gardner filed to run again, and challengers Tony Godsey Sr., and Josh Johnson filed for the two open council seats, Duvall said. Councilwoman Lynn Capps is not running for re-election.In Conway, four people have filed for three open City Council seats in the upcoming election, said Vicky Lefter, city clerk. Incumbents Randy Alford, Irby Koon and Jean Timbes sought to hold on to their seats while political newcomer William Goldfinch IV is challenging them for one of the open seats.Elections in Aynor and Conway will be held with other municipal and state races on Nov. 3.Contact TONYA ROOT at 444-1723.
