A Surfside Beach man was killed Monday evening when a tractor-trailer used for transporting vehicles backed over him near the Myrtle Beach International Airport.
Bruce Jenkins, 76, died of massive trauma after the incident in a Hertz rental car maintenance lot, officials said. Jenkins was an employee of Hertz, Deputy Coroner Tamara Willard said.
An Allied Systems vehicle carrier, driven by a 25-year-old Robbins, N.C., man, backed over Jenkins about 6 p.m., said Capt. David Knipes with Myrtle Beach police.
The carrier had two trailers and one of them had completely backed over Jenkins, Willard said.
