The S.C. Highway Patrol has arrested and charged a 21-year-old woman in the Tuesday morning hit-and-run crash in Horry County that killed two, according to reports.
Ashley Smith was arrested late this afternoon and formally charged with two counts of leaving the scene of an accident involving death, said highway patrol Lance Cpl. Sonny Collins.
Smith was booked into the J. Reuben Long Detention Center outside Conway, Collins said. He was unsure whether she has yet posted bond.
Smith's town of residence was immediately unknown.

Two guest workers were killed in a hit-and-run crash around 3 a.m. Tuesday on U.S. 17 Bypass near Mr. Joe White Avenue, bringing the county's death toll to 40 fatalities.
It was the county's fourth hit-and-run this year, and the third in two weeks.
Simone Tomlinson, 20, of Jamaica, and Viktor Yaninski, 21, of Bulgaria, died when their mo-ped was hit by a car that fled the scene, Coroner Robert Edge said.
Tomlinson and Yaninski were in the U.S. for the summer and worked at the Coral Beach Resort in Myrtle Beach, General Manager Ross Martin said. They both obtained visas and found jobs through a third-party intermediary.
