AYNOR - A Conway man shot a 22-year-old woman with a shotgun, kidnapped their 18-month-old baby and then shot and killed himself on Tuesday morning, officials and witnesses said.
The baby was unharmed, but police found Garvin Huggins III, 31, dead at the scene, Coroner Robert Edge said. The woman's name was not immediately available, although she was expected to be released from the Medical University of South Carolina later today, Sgt. Bob Carr said.
The shooting happened on Planters Circle Road near Aynor and Galivants Ferry. It was a domestic incident, Carr said.
One officer went into the house shortly before 11 a.m., Carr said, with the goal of retrieving a baby that was inside. The officer was able to get the child out safely.
