One person is dead, and another in critical condition after a Toyota Camry collided with a golf cart Wednesday evening around 6 p.m., according to North Myrtle Beach public information officer Pat Dowling.
Initially it was thought that the driver swerved to avoid an animal along Havens Drive, but an update from Dowling stated that the driver was traveling at a high speed and attempted to pass a car in front of her when she hit the golf cart.
During the collision, a 65-year-old female passenger in the golf cart was ejected. According to Horry County coroner Tony Hendrick, the woman was from Greensboro, N.C.
The female was deceased at the scene and the male was taken to Grand Strand Regional Hospital.
