A new “4-D Motion Theater” may be coming to Broadway at the Beach, according to building permit documents filed with the city of Myrtle Beach.
The theater is described as a “one-story building with a small second floor mechanical/technical area for running the movie and special effects,” according to a permit application. The project’s total valuation was listed as $1,389,970, and will be 8,583 square feet.
It will be located between Joe’s Crab Shack and Dragon’s Lair Fantasy Golf. “Some of the golf will be removed for the construction of this new building,” according to the application.
Sandrine Danielson, the architect working on the project, declined to comment on it because she said the theater company was in the process of negotiating a lease. She said the lease could be finished within a few days.
Sal Agosta, vice president of architecture and design for SimEx-Iwerks Entertainment, could not be reached by phone Wednesday. That company was listed on the theater’s permit application. Burroughs & Chapin, the company that owns Broadway at the Beach, declined to comment through a spokesperson.
Two theaters already are located close to the possible future site of the 4-D theater, including the Broadway 17 and the Carmike BIGD Theater.
