Cooped up with kids? Here are safe, social distancing things to do on the Grand Strand

With schools closed to help combat the spread of the coronavirus, parents are likely looking for things children can do in the Myrtle Beach area while practicing social distancing.

There’s no need to worry — The Sun News has tracked down several options to get your children out of the house or stay in and be creative.

Here are things to do along the Grand Strand:

  • Brookgreen Gardens is temporarily dropping ticket prices to $10 for adults and $5 for children. Most of the outdoor areas remain open to the public, but some exhibits and galleries have closed.
  • The Franklin G. Burroughs-Simeon B. Chapin Art Museum is now offering KidsArt Online. The museum’s KidsArt coordinator is producing art classes, which are posted to YouTube, for children to follow along with and create art.
  • The beach! Grand Strand beaches remain open for folks to take walks, read and practice social distancing with fresh air.
  • Horry County Schools’ parking lots at school buildings are open for internet access, which is available between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m., Monday through Friday.
