Horry County is mailing about 250,000 property tax bills this week, according to a Friday afternoon email, and they can be paid without penalty up to Jan. 15.
This year’s bills will reflect the reassessment, so don’t be surprised at changes in how much the county says your home is worth and the amount of tax.
Also, those who just can’t wait for the bill can get the information online.
Go to www.horrycounty.org and click on “Online Services.” Once there, click on “tax payments and receipts. Next, enter the property owner’s name or map number.

Payments Jan.15 will have to to include a penalty, which is 3 percent for the rest of January, an additional 7 percent after Feb. 1 and another 5 percent if the payment isn’t received by March 16.
Payments can be mailed or made by telephone at 1-866-830-3582.
In addition to the property tax mailing, 60,000 personal property tax bills and 15,000 notices for taxes on watercraft/motors are also going in the mail.
