Business strategist Zenovia Andrews suggests that the world would be a happier place if mothers ran their homes like CEOs run their companies.
A well-run home, she said in a recent news release, would include tracking systems for kids’ allowances and goals to set and measure things such as school test scores and husbands’ weight loss.
Andrews has boiled the basics down to four tips:
• Utilize apps such as Bank of Mom to keep track of the kids’ allowances as well as any money they earn for chores. The app will also let enterprising mothers track computer and TV time, as well as other activities.
• Set goals and measure progress for things such as test scores, weight loss, and “gasp -- free some time for yourself.” There are four phases involved: planning or establishing goals, conducting research on the current process, analyze information from the current process compared with that from former processes and implementing the new process.
• Understand that family members, like employees, are happier when they grow and develop. Use those tools to help children gain the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in general and achieve their individual dreams.
• Understand the power of a team that’s best monitored by automated systems. Home schedules need to track whose night it is to do dishes or take out the trash, while realizing that one team member may be helpful in the kitchen but not so good at pool cleaning, where another could shine.
