Nike’s new irons help wide range of players
The Nike VR-S Covert irons are Nike’s most versatile irons to date and are built to appeal to a wide range of players. They feature proprietary Nike technology platforms including a High Speed Cavity Back and a NexCOR face. The High Speed Cavity Back allows golfers more distance and control as the hidden technology moves the weight of the club to the corners, raising Moment of Inertia (MOI) to increase forgiveness and add distance to off-center shots.
The NexCOR face is designed to deliver faster ball speed and longer shots from a wider area of the face. NexCOR creates more speed at impact by employing variable face thickness that focuses on increasing the sweet spot not only in the center of the face, but also to the lower portion and towards the toe. A dual bevel sole has been created for the VR-S Covert irons. It allows the club to sit low to the golf ball and prevent digging, making interaction with the turf less disturbing to the golf shot and helping maximize distance. A new variable added to the new irons to maximum distance is the thin 1.6mm sole thickness designed to heat up the face.
The clubs will be available on Feb. 8, 2013 in 4-iron through wedges at a price of $699.99 for steel shafts and $799.99 for graphite. Shaft options include a True Temper Dynalite 90 or Nike Kuro Kage Black 70. Visit www.nikegolf.com.
