Brad Redding’s Weekly Golf Tip (July 25)

Different pattern

I define this pattern as a good player's mistake. Ball starts too far right and stays that way or it curves too far left. Divots are too shallow and behind the ball. Ball impact with face is too low. You tend to hit your driver well, but mid to low irons are a problem. So this is a down swing that is too shallow (flat). You need to get the downswing steeper. Take an impact board. A thin piece of plywood works well. Place a ball about 8 inches in front of the board. Get to the point where you miss the board and hit the ball. Results would be ball then ground contact. Golf ball starts straighter and impact is higher on the face.
