A 72-year-old woman told police a man on a bicycle took her purse from her as she walked into Coastal Grand Mall early Wednesday, police said.
The woman suffered a cut on her head, knees and hands after she fell to the sidewalk when the man snatched her purse from her at 10 a.m. Wednesday outside the mall, according to a police report. The woman was taken to Grand Strand Regional Medical Center for treatment.
The woman told police she was walking to the mall doors near Belk when the man riding a bicycle rode up to her, grabbed her purse and caused her to fall and hit her head on the sidewalk. The woman said the man rode away with her purse.
Police found the woman’s purse and the bicycle in a field near the mall, according to the report. Cash was missing from the woman’s purse.
