Four people were killed on South Carolina highways during the weekend, according to the state Department of Public Safety.
As of Sunday, 161 people had died on state roads, compared to 176 highway deaths in the same time period in 2010, according to authorities. Of the 120 motor vehicle occupants who have died in 2011, 69 were not wearing seat belts.
Through midnight Sunday, 25 pedestrians, 13 motorcyclists and two bicyclists have died on state roads and highways.
