A MTV reality star and two other Brunswick County, N.C., women have been charged with assault following a fight that was videoed, according to a news release.
Jenelle Evans, 19, of Oak Island, N.C., who is one of the stars on MTV’s Teen Mom 2, Brittany Maggard, 18, of Boiling Springs Lake, N.C., and Brittany Truett, 19, of Bolivia, N.C., were each charged with misdemeanor affray, according to the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office. Maggard and Evans also were charged with simple assault.
Evans was arrested Sunday while Maggard and Truett were each arrested Saturday. All the women have posted a $500 bond and are scheduled to return to court April 26.
Affray is a misdemeanor that involves disorderly conduct by fighting in a public place, according to a news release. The penalty for the charge is 30 to 60 days in jail, but first time offense must be placed on probation.
Brunswick County authorities began investigating the incident on Friday after receiving multiple calls about a video posted online that showed the women fighting about four days earlier in Sunset Harbor, according to the release from Sheriff John Ingram and District Attorney Jon David.
During an interview with detectives, Truett told police that she did not want to press charges in the incident. But after Truett was served with a warrant on Saturday, authorities said she sought warrants for simple assault against Evans and Maggard.
