Myrtle Beach police arrested a man wanted in Ohio in connection with gross sexual imposition charges involving a minor, according to authorities.
A Myrtle Beach police officer saw Kevin Loel, 40, at 1 p.m. Thursday in the 600 block of North King Highway, police said. After a record check the officer learned Loel is wanted by the sheriff’s office in Ross County, Ohio on a charge of failure to appear for gross sexual imposition.
According to Ohio authorities, Loel failed to return to court for a sentencing hearing in October 2009. He was convicted of three counts of gross sexual imposition where the victim was a minor in each case.
Myrtle Beach police charged Loel with being a fugitive from justice and Ohio authorities plan to extradite him to face charges for failing to appear for his sentencing hearing. Loel is being held today at the Myrtle Beach jail.
