Man shot in face while at Georgetown County nightclub

Georgetown County authorities are investigating a nightclub shooting that took place in the Plantersville Community on Tuesday, said Dep. Russell Goodale of the Georgetown County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies found a 36-year-old man that was shot in the face after responding to an incident Tuesday night at the Ghost Den nightclub, 2001 Jackson Village Rd.

Witnesses said three men entered the club and one of them was carrying a shotgun, Goodale said. The men took the victim outside and witnesses reported they heard a single gunshot, he said. The men then fled in a burgundy Mercury Sable, he said.

The man was taken to Georgetown Medical Center and later transported to the Medical University of South Carolina hospital in Charleston.

Authorities request those with information on the incident call the sheriff's office at 546-5102.
