Myrtle Beach man arrested after argument with woman over baby wipes

Myrtle Beach police arrested a 25-year-old man after an officer saw him assault a 25-year-old woman, according to police records.

Malik Darelle Johnson was charged with simple assault and battery after officers were called at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday to an apartment at 1011 Osceola St., police said.

When an officer arrived at the apartment, he saw a man yelling at a woman, who was pushed against a wall, and the man had his fist balled up at her, according to the report. The officer noted he saw the man push the woman’s head and pushed her against the wall.

Two children were crying inside the apartment during the incident, according to the report. The woman told police that they were arguing because Johnson went to get money from a friend to get baby wipes for the children and took a long time. The woman said when she asked Johnson about what took so long to get the baby wipes he got upset.
