Red Cross helps two families after separate fires in Conway area

Red Cross volunteers helped two families who were displaced by two separate fires in the Conway area, according to a news release.

An apartment fire on S.C. 544 early Friday in Conway left one adult and two children without a home when it was destroyed, according to the Red Cross. That fire was reported about 2 a.m. at Coastal Villas Apartment located at 3555 S.C. 544.

The blaze began in Building 19 Unit E and was contained to that building, according to authorities.

A fire on Sunday at a home on Waccamaw Drive displaced four adults and a child, according to the Red Cross.

Since July 1, the area's Red Cross chapter has responded to 131 fires in Horry, Georgetown and Williamsburg counties.
