A fire at an Horry County apartment complex is under investigation after crews were called early Friday for the blaze, said Leslie Yancey, public information officer for Horry County Fire Rescue.
The fire was reported at 2:08 a.m. today at Coastal Villas Apartment located at 3555 S.C. 544, Yancey said.Flames were showing when firefighters arrived.
A second alarm was called because firefighters wanted more equipment and manpower at the scene in case the fire spread to an adjacent building, Yancey said.
The blaze began in Building 19 Unit E and was contained to that building, Yancey said. There are four apartments in the building, which is connected to another building that also contains four apartments. Only one of the apartments was occupied in Building 19 and that is where the fire originated.

No one was home at the time of the fire and no one was hurt during the incident, Yancey said. Residents living in the adjacent building were allowed to return to their apartments after the fire was extinguished.
The cause of the blaze remains under investigation.
Firefighters from Myrtle Beach and Conway provided mutual aid during the incident.
More details will be posted as they become available.
