Myrtle Beach police search for 22-year-old man in burglary, assault

Myrtle Beach police are searching for a 22-year-old man on charges he choked and hit a 21-year-old woman with a surveyor stick, according to a police report.

Eric Alexander Johnson is wanted on charges of first-degree burglary and criminal domestic violence of a high and aggravated nature, according to Myrtle Beach police.

The charges stemmed from Jan. 29 when a 21-year-old woman told police Johnson came to an apartment in the 1400 block of Fisher Drive, kicked in the door and assaulted her, according to the report. The woman said Johnson is her former boyfriend and he demanded $200 from her.

The woman said Johnson choked her, kicked her in the back, punched her in the head and drug her through the apartment before he ran outside, according to the report. The woman said she chased after him to a taxi cab waiting in the parking lot.The woman said Johnson picked up a wooden surveyor stick and hit her with it before he got into the taxi and left, according to the report.
