The Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office is asking for help in identifying whoever is responsible for the theft of a Pawleys Island ATM.
About 4:30 this morning, Georgetown County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the BB&T Bank at 11403 Ocean Highway in Pawleys Island in reference to an ATM alarm. While in route to the bank, the alarm company told deputies that someone used a fork lift to lift the ATM, said the office in a news release.
The thief was driving what appeared to be a white Dodge king cab pick-up truck and used a fork lift stolen from a construction site next door to lift and load the ATM. The person fled the area in an unknown direction. The ATM contained an undisclosed amount of cash.
This incident is under investigation, more details and surveillance video will be released when they are available, said the office.
