Police in Horry County on Wednesday recaptured a man who escaped briefly from a jail work crew that was working at a county waste facility off S.C. 90.
Joey Johnson, deputy director at J. Reuben Long Detention Center, said the escape happened around 2 p.m., when Patrick Cassidy, 20, ran from the work site through a wooded area. Johnson said police believe Cassidy ran through woods toward the Carolina Forest area.
Officers from Horry County Police and Horry County Sheriff's departments arrested Cassidy after finding him around 4:30 p.m. on U.S. 501 in a vehicle with someone else.
Johnson couldn't be sure Wednesday what additional charges Cassidy might face or if the other person in the vehicle might be charged.

Cassidy was serving consecutive 30 day sentences for receiving stolen goods and signature under false pretenses, and he also was charged with forgery, Johnson said. He was within 28 days of his scheduled release when he fled, according to Johnson.
