An Andrews woman has been charged with assault after Georgetown County Sheriff deputies investigated a report she choked a student riding on her bus, according to a police report.
Gertrude Hamilton, 45, was charged Feb. 16 with third-degree assault and battery following an incident that was reported to have occurred on Jan. 12, police said.
The warrant charges that Hamilton grabbed a handicapped girl in the face during the assault on the bus.
The girl’s mother called police in January to her home on Gapway Road to report her daughter was grabbed and choked by the throat on the school bus, according to the report. The woman said her daughter arrived home crying and upset.
