Horry County prosecutor resigns after being charged with DUI, open container

An attorney with the 15th Circuit Solicitor’s Office was arrested early Monday by the S.C. Highway Patrol on alcohol related charges, according to records at J. Reuben Long Detention Center.

Robert B. “Bo” Bryan, 40, of Myrtle Beach, who works as an assistant solicitor, was booked into the detention center in Conway at 7:25 a.m. Monday and released at 9:18 a.m., according to records.

Bryan was charged with first-offense driving under the influence and open container of beer or wine in a motor vehicle, records showed.

Bryan could not be reached Tuesday for comment.

Lance Cpl. Sonny Collins with the S.C. Highway Patrol said a trooper stopped Bryan for a traffic violation at 3:15 a.m. Monday on U.S. 501 near Robert Grissom Parkway.

The traffic stop resulted in the arrest and charges, Collins said. Additional details about the arrest will not be released until the case has been adjudicated.

Bryan has worked in the 15th Circuit Solicitor’s office since 1999. He previously worked for the Aiken County prosecutor’s office.

15th Circuit Solicitor Greg Hembree said Bryan resigned his position Tuesday morning and he accepted the resignation.

"He's been a prosecutor with us for more than 10 years and he's done a lot of public service for us," Hembree said. "I wish him well in his future endeavors."
