Myrtle Beach man given probation in sexual assault case

A Myrtle Beach man was released on probation after he pleaded guilty to a sexual assault charge, according to court records.

Ron Green, 28, was released from J. Reuben Long Detention Center on Tuesday after Circuit Court Judge Michael Baxley sentenced him to five years in prison and suspended that sentence upon Green’s service of 10 days in prison and 30 months on probation. Green was given credit for the time he’s served since being arrested in May.

Baxley also ordered Green to obtain his GED, substance abuse counseling and undergo random drug and alcohol testing, according to court records. Green also must write an apology letter to the victim and the victim’s family within 30 days and pay court costs.

Green pleaded guilty to third-degree criminal sexual conduct in exchange charge of second-degree criminal sexual conduct and attempting to commit lewd act on a minor under the age of 16 were dismissed.

Horry County police arrested Green on the charges on May 18. Details about the incident from which the charges stemmed were not immediately available.
