Issue with parking in Myrtle Beach ends with assault, vehicle damage

Myrtle Beach police are investigating a report that a couple driving a van, who were was upset about a parking spot, assaulted another couple and struck their vehicle, according to a police report.

A 42-year-old man told police that he parked in a lot in the 2900 block of North Kings Highway about 12:20 a.m. Sunday and went around to help his wife get out of the vehicle, police said. The man said another vehicle was trying to park in the spot next to them and the woman driving got upset they were taking too long to park.

The man said a man got out of the other vehicle, walked up to him and punched him, which caused him to fall to the ground, the report showed. The man said the suspect ran back to the vehicle and as the woman drove off she struck the rear of his vehicle.

Police searched for the vehicle in the area, but did not find it.
