The driver of the vehicle remained on scene and had been cooperating with authorities in the investigation.
Surfside Beach’s traffic collision reconstruction specialist responded to the scene to conduct a post collision investigation and the state Highway Patrol’s Multi-disciplinary Accident Investigation Team assisted.
The investigation determined that the driver's vehicle had been traveling in the proper lane and direction, was moving at a speed well below the posted speed limit and at a speed commensurate with conditions, and that the headlights were being utilized in accordance with state law, Frederick said.
