Man charged with attempted murder in Thursday shooting

Myrtle Beach police arrested a man early Thursday in connection with a shooting at an Ocean Boulevard motel, according to authorities.

Jonas Demetric Carraway, 29, has been charged with attempted murder, according to police records.

Police were called about 4:30 a.m. Thursday to the Budget Inn located at 501 N. Ocean Blvd., for the shooting incident, Capt. David Knipes said.

The victim told police that her ex-boyfriend came to her hotel door with a gun pointed at her and another person.

The victim said she told him that she would go with him if he didn't shoot the other person. Carraway, the ex-boyfriend, then told the victim to get dress and go with him.

The victim said she then ran out the door and heard four shots fired.

Video surveillance in the hotel showed Carraway chasing the victim out of the room and then to the back of the hotel, firing what appeared to be three shots. The victim was not hit.

Carraway was later arrested at a home in the 1200 block of Yaupon Drive, Knipes said.
