A Murrells Inlet man was arrested on charges related to a string of garage burglaries, said Horry County police Sgt. Robert Kegler.
Oswood Sylvester Holmes, 53, was charged with five counts of second-degree burglary, two counts of receiving stolen goods, two counts of obtaining goods by false pretenses and one count of petty larceny, Kegler said.
Detectives began an investigation in November after several homes were burglarized by having things taken from their open door garages, Kegler said. Police said residents should make sure their garage door is closed when they are not outside near the home or inside the garage to reduce such crimes.
